Weeeeeeeek 24! This Way Nonsense Lies

That's right, nonsense. As usual. Although you might find something useful, I doubt it. Anyway, that's dribble. Speaking of dribble, my son produces gallons of the stuff. It's only been a week but I already can't wait until he learns to shut his gob. No doubt something I'll be wishing for a very long time, but what can you do? 

To start things off, look how cinnamon is harvested. It's kind of like how you'd expect, really...but it's still nice to watch. 

Speaking of food, sort of, check out the top 18 lunches of British people. No doubt number one is accompanied by a bag of salt and vinegar and washed down with a Coke, or a nice cuppa if you're in the office. Personally, I love a good cheese sandwich, but normally have a tuna thing, in case you're interested. 

On a sort of similar note, these are the little things that make us happy. British people, that is. We're simple folk. Can't argue with number 41. I love the smell of pencils in the morning. 

I admit I just saw number 47 on that list. At least we're honest. We're also silly, as is evident in the video below. 

Oh look! This is something useful. Feel free to print this out, or just memorise it (good luck). Look me in the eyes and tell me you knew these. You can't. For numerous reasons. So there.

Naturally, this leads to me to photos of lions. 

These photos were taken by a very lucky man who snapped them just before he got back in the vehicle, and obviously just before Herre Lion bit his head off. If he looks mad now, just imagine how upset he was when his lunch drove away.

Here's something useful for you Android users. If you lose your phone, all you have to do is open up Google, type 'find my phone', and hit search/enter. And there it is (of course, you have to have your location turned on  and be connected to the internet in one way or another, but still!).

The Return of The Internet (aka Week 23)

Hot on the heels of Jesus being resurrected (or so the story goes), it's week 23 of the internet (I decided to skip 22, even though it really doesn't matter in the big picture. None of this does really). 

I hope your Easter holiday was wonderful. Mine was filled with food, family, and Fyne Ales. I was barely online for the whole week so have no idea what's been going on, so you'll have to excuse me if some of what follows is, like, totally old, but whatever - this is my blog, not yours. 

Now, I can't remember and am too lazy to check if I ever posted the longest US road trip (well, the one to hit "all 48 contiguous states, and includes 50 stops at National Natural Landmarks, National Historic Sites, National Parks, and National Monuments), but now there's a European one. Well, it's not the longest, it's actually the most efficient. You know, like if you were German and wanted to see Europe. On yer bike. 

I'm actually fairly certain I've posted about Bomb Sight before, but it's recently resurfaced and is really very cool, so here it is again (ah! Posted in 2012). See all the (recorded), bombs dropped on London during the Blitz (7th October 1940 to 6th June 1941). There's a lot. None of anywhere I lived though. 

Channel 4 have got a pretty cool series going called Drones in Forbidden Zones. It's, well, drones flying through forbidden zones, like abandoned places etc. Nifty. Here's one of them. 

Don't Hug Me I'm Scared have released a new film. It's as weird and freaky as you might expect. 

It was April's Fools Day during the break, of course. I tried to do one, but someone ruined it right away. Some people... Anyway, I was very fond of the story from New Zealand and BMW.

Chapter 11 of the WWW

Well these weeks just fly by, don't they. Another week, another week of what is mostly meaningless crap, which will all be forgotten by Monday - if not already. But that's life. That reminds me, I came across a thread on reddit asking what phrases we used to use (by 'we' it mean people my age-ish, e.g. 30+), that are, or will be soon, meaningless. I'm going to go through it and make a best of, because there were some golden ones in there. Anyway, here's some already meaningless crap. Enjoy!

Procrastination is always a good place to start. If you use Chrome, disconnect from the internet, try to load a page, hit space, and see how far you get. 

PuppySwap is a genius way to get a puppy in your life - and keep it. Who wants a grown up dog? They're not half as cute. 

It's really a very clever campaign for the Toronto Humane Society, tackling pet abandonment. Over 180,000 animals enter Canadian shelters each year, and 40% will never leave. Ouch. 

You might have heard of Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson's record making free-climb of the sheer face of El Capitan. It's an absolutely astounding feat, and if you don't believe me, look at this wonderful interactive site from the NY Times. You can see more photos here. They're really worth a look. 

Like zombies? Like parkour? Then you'll like this. Go full screen, it's worth it. 

I was going to write about the genius idea of sending glitter to people you hate, but it seems it because so successful, so quickly, the guy who started it has already made a huge amount of money and has put the site up for sale. The modern world never ceases to amaze me. 

Here's another form of sending things, albeit a slightly more digital version. You can send file, anywhere (e.g. from PC to iPhone). It's simple and smart and one of those things you'll forget about in a moment.
