El Capitan

I'm not sure why, but Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson's record breaking - or record making, rather - free-climb of the sheer face of El Capitan has amazed me. I'm not a climber, but there's something about the scale of this feat that just leaves me in awe. I can't imagine a better place to climb. Yosemite National Park is probably one of the most beautiful places in America, and no doubt served as the ultimate scenery during the 19 days it took the two men to make the summit. I'm not going to bombard you with climbing facts (I don't know any), but I will bombard you with photos from the climb, because they're incredible. They are, in the very literal sense of the word, awesome.

For some fantastic interactive sites, head over to here and here. They're really worth a visit. You should also check out Tommy and Kevin's Instagram feeds.

Free Trip Home For Christmas

Anthon Berg have this whole generosity thing going, which I've always liked. It's a bit different, it's clever, and it works. I really liked their TV spot from three years (!) ago.  Anyway, back to 2014. This year, and I think they did it last year too, they're offering students a free train ride home. There are two routes, which together cover most of Denmark, and are two-way of course. All you have to do is produce a valid student card, and share the generosity, which I presume - being students - means bring crisps and beer to share.

I think it's a wonderful idea.
