Apparently, NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) captures a shot of the sun every 12 seconds. In this video, you can see images from the past three years at a pace of two images per day.
Fascinating! Just so casually lets go of the microphone... Wish I was an astronaut. I'd make a good one, I'm pretty sure.
